I recently asked ChatGpt a question to understand how dogs think. It was purely to be able to solve a problem I have been having with my dog.
I was expecting a very texty bookish reply, instead the reply started with ‘Hey you are very compassionate ❤️, thanks for asking this that most humans won’t’
I somehow felt nice and acknowledged.
The very next line was the text it had picked up from some site with the answers and I realised it’s a bot !
Coming to the point, I tried to reflect why did the stroke from a GPT felt good ?
is GPT trying to impress me ? what’s it’s incentive ?
Also, that’s about the GPT but about me, I was less bothered about where the acknowledgment came from, but the fact that it did come. So are GPTs now in the influence game ? Where they are using the tricks of negotiation ?
In his book ‘A brief history of intelligence’ Benett talks about our Neuron evolution and that Neurons are attracted towards food, my brain did the same thing.
Or the GPTs trying to imitate being a kind human and continue doing the right thing ?
I read the answer, moved on when I realised that today it’s acknowledgment, tomorrow it can be an insult 😃 and the GPT knows my vulnerabilities.
